is on
the merits

(rather than on the process, the person of the adversary, or his/her views).

3. The approach
is proactive
and constructive

(which is to say it does not ignore or frustrate the process, but is rather cooperative, leading to adequate and constructive contributions).

4. Each act
is sincere
and fair

(which is to say no untruths, no concealing of information, no artifice and no undue pressure, abuse, etc.).

5. The outcome
is justified
and morally just

(which is to say: an outcome that you could also live with if you were the adversary).
